Sakit HFM ...

Udah beberapa kes anak mit sakit kena HFM di Sibu! Aku irau ke penyakit tu merebak baka ke taun dulu dulu suba! Bala anak staf aku dua iko udah kena ari nemalam, lalu diatu masuk hospital prebit, arap ke seduai jampat gerai.

Nama patut dikerja kitai apai indai ngambi anak-anak kitai enda dijangkit penyakit HFM? Puas aku mikir ke tu, pagi tu; enggai tinok aku ari jam 4.25pagi pengudah nerima sms minta chuti ngenyit ari staf. Bakani kita ngelak ke anak kena HFM? Ke amat endal, aku enda nemu! Nuh enda ingat! Udah aku macha enggau silik beberapa taun ke suba, maya anak agi mit gi; tang sepagi tu, aku enda ingat!

Aku semina ingat ke siti aja ajar Lutor ... anang mai anak ngagai endor ke mayoh orang/anak mit! Nya alai sebedau tudah anak nurun sekula tadi, lalu berlecture lah aku ngagai iya - madah ke tengahari tu legi iya enda ulih enggau main volleyball. Ya, athletic anak aku; bansi indai suba enda tentu aktif!

Aku endang ngarap ke semua orang belaboh bejaga-jaga.


Well, lots of parents are concerned in Sibu ... the hand, foot & mouth disease might be back!!?? Two of my staff kids are confirmed to have the disease and admitted to the private hospital here. So, do take care with your children!

What do you do to prevent it? What to do when your kid have it? All these questions came to my mind, early this morning at 4.25am (after receiving sms for emergency leave from my staff) and honestly .. I don't know!! What do we do? I know that this is not the 1st time that the 'epidemic' had happened in Sibu - several times!! What did I do during those times?

What a parent!! I need to keep myself informed!! I know I read about it several years ago; and it just slipped my mind, completely. I only always remember the doctor's advise - keep away from crowds!

I hope and pray that the situation will be contained!

Pejalai ... terubah ...

Semua pemendal udah diterima; nyadi meh aku ke menoa tu!! Abstract aku udah diterima, lalu deka dibantai ke aba aum besai tu ila. Nadai disangka-sangka pengudah aku sekali mantai ke kertas kerja aba aum antarabangsa di KL taun nyin kemari; aku nuh nerima peminta baru bejako ke topik tu! Tang maya nya suba, mayoh penyukong laban ke di menoa diri; samapai sida bos-bos 'besai' pen bisi enggau ninga!
Tang ke sekali tu, berasai gaga bisi serta mega berasai 'takut' mimit bisi. Urang bukai ke bejako tu nuh betubi-tubi kertas ke udah ditulis serta dibantai; engku baru lah ke-dua! Tang munyi ko aku merangsang diri - Aku Meh Paling Landik mantai ke kertas kerja tu!

Its confirmed! All approvals received to attend the conference and the organizer had accepted my abstract; thus I will be presenting a paper at an international conference in the said country. It will be only my 2nd paper at an international conference; although the first one was held in Kuala Lumpur! At the KL conference, I had a lot of local/foreign supports; even my bosses!! Yeah, the bosses part - that was PRESSURE!! My performance being assessed! I must have done good ;)
I am really excited to be among the experts presenting; and it looks like possibly the only woman presenter (unless I can't distinguish the foreign names gender!!). I have a few concerns also; but, I motivate & encourage myself by saying - I am the BEST, I am the EXPERT! phewwww!!! Hope it works when the time comes!!! Anyway ... Here I Come!!! :D

Upcoming Cultural Events ...

Its confirmed now ... the following events will be happening in Sibu! Its two of the greatest events in Sarawak; and for those in Malaysia, its a MUST, especially the Borneo Cultural Festival. Those overseas, its something to consider, especially when your making trips to Malaysia.

23 May; Gawai Dayak Sibu Dinner @ Civic Center at 7:00 pm;Dinner tickets from RM300 - RM500/ table will be available from April.

3 - 11July; Borneo Cultural Festival @ Town Square (I need to double check on this dates)

Another event that I love is the Rainforest Music World Festival! Another MUST for music lovers! The experience is worth it - at least ONCE for those in Sarawak!! :D

Gawai Dayak Sibu ... 23 Mei 2009

Haribulan Gawai Dayak Sibu udah ditetap serta disetuju ka kena 23 Mei 2009 di Dewan Suarah. Sampal datai ngulu pengerami tu. Tuai ke taun tu bedau SIDS, Sibu lalu disokong sida SDNU, DBNA, OUNA & SADIA. Engka meda untung taun nyin kemari lebih RM11k keni, ngelama tu lalu duit kira2 RM2k aja :D Taja pia, meja ke dijual bisi 9 iti kurang ari taun-taun ke dulu; nuh besekut alam Dewan. Ko jako tadi ka ngambi gambar komiti besai; nuh enda ingat laban ke enda lanchat be ambi gambar. Enti raun2 baru aku lanchat kacit ke kamera!

Bup dibaca ...

Belaboh ari bulan 12 tu suba, aku macha 2 iti bup serentak! Ya ya munyi do anak, lain-lain mood enggau masa, macha lain bup. Bup ke terubah dibaca aku, ianya nobel benama 'Answered Prayer' ditulis Danielle Steele. Steele tu siko ari penchrita ke di rindu ke aku. Enda nemu puas aku macha bup iya berulang-ulang! Neku ati aku amat cerita tu - pasal 2 iko sekaban ke maya biak bisi pengerindu ngagai pagan diri, tang enda tersampai. Seduai iya idup jalai ke bukai; udah tuai agi maya pengidup seduai kucar kacir, betemu baru. Laboh ati macha! Munyi ko jako orang Melayu - Kalau sudah Jodoh, tak akan ke mana! Enti orang nya diatur petara ke kitai, kitai meh ngempu iya. Tang pemayoh orang ke dipansa kitai alam pengidup, bakani kitai nemu siko NYA iya!

Serentak enggau bup cerita tu, aku mega macha bup "Let Prayers Change Your Life" ditulis Becky Tirabassi; tu meh siti bup ke manah. Munyi ke penama bup, iaitu nerang ke kuasa sampi alam pengidup. Kuasa sampi ke orang ke berpengarap endang besai; tang enda semua peminta alam sampi diberi. Nama kebuah? Peminta nya enda patut ko Allah Taala? Allah Taala nyaut sampi nitih ke guna kitai siko-siko?

Alam bup Kudus nyebut:

I have a stack of books on the night table. Books of my favourite authors, Danielle Steele & John Grisham, and of course the ever available Harlequin books! Yeah, I still do read those - get away from reality and go into fantasy where the 'dark, handsome, rich' guy will just be ready to sweep me off my feet! hahaha no wonder my feet is still firmly planted on the ground; there's hardly any 'dark, handsome, rich' guy around anymore. Forget the fact that we also need the guy to be loving, caring, etc..

The 2 books that I finished reading are "Answered Prayer" by Danielle Steele and "Let Prayers Change Your Life" by Becky Tirabassi. Steele's book was about love at a young age, moving on with life, and reconnecting & rediscovering the love again, years later. Tirabassi's book is as the title says about prayers, its power, etc.; and both were great books! I do believe in the power of prayers, and strive to lead a Christian life. More like a struggle ... hence the constant search for the meaning of life.

Are our prayers answered? One of the bible verse that is close to my heart (my golden verse) is from Luke 11.9. The relevancy of the two books with this verse triggers a few thoughts on prayers requests, love, and destiny. It brings to mind also, what we are searching for in life? What is our purpose in life? This links to the book that I read/studied last year by Rick Warren "Purpose Driven Life"; which has quite an impact on me. My search continues ...

Valentine Day ...

Guys!!!! Where are our flowers? Chocolates? Never mind ... kampua mee also can!! lol Aiyaaaa ok ok milo ice will do .... see am getting less expensive as the years go by!!!

I thought by now, you would have figured how to part or cross the river ... okay sea/ocean ... just a name for water; and we got plentiful!! Distance is just an imagined km; the world is supposed to be borderless. So where are you? hahahaha

Valentine...Berkaban...Penyarakup ... Sarakup Indu!

Nama reti Valentine aba kitai? Hari tu, endang selalu dikait ke kitai, kelebih agi, enggau pengawa pengerindu ati enggau sulu ati! Tang ianya mega ulih dikait enggau kaban; pengerindu kitai enggau pagan diri. Diak kitai selalu ber ambuk madik; lalu Sarakup Indu Dayak Sarawak tu meh siti gerempong ke ulih nyerakup ke kitai. Di Sarawak tu, mayoh amat gerempong kitai Dayak - SDNU (bisi sayap sida laki, indu (Sarakup Indu Dayak) & orang ubas), SADIA, SDGA, DCCI, DAM, etc engka bisi agi ke enda ditemu aku. Pemayoh gerempong kitai, bisi penyerakup kitai? Kadang-kadang sinu meda bala kitai; nyangka empai bisi Tuai ke bekaliba & bekarisma gempung semua kitai. Selalu maya Gawai kitai ninga ke tema Segulai Sejalai Sepenemu. Nama reti tema tu? Bala ke mansut & nyendia ke tema, empai kala ngeluar ke reti 3 iti leka jako tu. Enti enda salah ingat aku, bisi 5 taun tema tu udah dikena SDNU maya ngintu Gawai; tang aku lalu empai kala ninga penerang pasal iya. Segulai Sejalai - tu dipelaba ke aku, nyangka mayoh meh bala mereti serta ngena iya; tang Sepenemu, pedis aba kitai mensia. Enti alam opis, aku selalu nyebut leka - Let's agree to disagree, respect each other's views and work around it. Tang kitai Dayak?

Kemari, gaga ke sida menyadi kitai bala DBNA ke nerima RM5 juta grant ari perintah besai! Dipeda aba tv bala menyadi kita sida Bidayuh sampal ngandak/nyambut Sapit Perdana Menteri maya iya nemuai ke Serian; udah nya di bantai ke tv klip mimit meda sekumpulan tuai2 kitai Dayak (Iban) betungak berandau enggau Sapit PM. Tertanya serta gaga ati; nganti ke dipadah nama utai ke diberi ngagai kitai Iban?!!??? Dipadah ke orang enda kini kitai tu??!!

Aku sigi ngansak kitai ke indu Dayak bergerempong, berserakup laban tu siti jalai kitai:-

• bekelala enggau pagan diri (enti enda ari Sarakup, nyangka lubah bekelala enggau orang Miri & Bintulu ;) )
• ngaga tali kaban (network) endor kitai berkongsi penemu & bertulong pagan diri
• ngemansang & nyokong pemansang diri sama diri
• ngenan/belajar ke adat asal & main asal
• etc

Pemansang kitai indu Dayak tu lalu empai bisi orang ngulih/ngumpul ke rekod; ni pemayoh kitai ke udah mansang alam pelajar, pengidup, etc.. Tang aku ingat, lebih kurang 10 taun suba, bisi anembiak indu kitai ke ngambi Saujana ari MU, iya ngaga tesis pasal pemansang indu Dayak etc; aku minta iya ngirum ke rambal tesis iya enti udah temuk - engka iya ngagau keni. Maya nya, aku enda ngah ngambi endor pendiau iya (dipadah nuh enda ingat!!). Tang enti siapa bisi nemu - madah!

Nya alai sampal kitai berSERAKUP! Ngambi kitai sama-sama ngemansang ke bangsa & menoa!

SIDS ... Ngatur Pengawa ...

Lemai tu tadi, baum bala SIDS ke progrim ke deka diatur alam taun tu. Laban ke lama enda betemu, mayoh randau ruai; tang ulih ngah tembu alam 3 jam! Pengawa ke diperabu ke taun tu endang nitih ke tuju Sarakup di pun ka. Taun tu mega ngenap Sarakup di Sibu udah ditubuh 20 taun, aku empu udah enggau nyadi kaban ditu 15 taun ... apuuuu enda berasai. Ke ingat aku suba, aku baru belaboh gawa, ketegal nadai pengawa ujung minggu (nadai geng ;) ), aku terus masuk Sarakup. Pengawa aku ke terubah iya nya enggau sida Daisy belajar ngajat! Ya ya ya munyi ko bala Sarakup, aku tu 'international performer'! Ditu, jarang bala meda aku meremik ke patung, ngayun ke jari, ngelek ke punggung, ngebap ke kaki; tang udah ngah mantai ke kajat maya di Korea, Filipina, serta Taiwan! Nemu-nemu lah kita kebuah iya!! :D Tang aku sigi selalu nyebut, semua indu Sarakup mesti nemu ngajat!

Pengawa ke deka di atur mayoh; serta arap ke semua ulih bejalai enggau mujur! Dua progrim ke tetap diatur ianya semina orang indu enggau pengerami ngintu ulang taun ke 20 ... sedia ngabang kitu!

Its time of the year again to plan for the year's activities for the Sarakup ladies in Sibu. The members were excited today to get on with the activities, and the flood did not stop any of us from meeting. Yes, still flooded in some areas! The major activities for the year are a seminar, the 20th anniversary celebration, and the usual activities of education, welfare, culture, and sporting.

Members also discussed at length on the forthcoming BGM in Kuching, and we agreed to send a delegate of 14 ladies with observers to the BGM in Kuching at the end of the month. The question is - are we going to make a difference? Is the wind of change blowing all the way from northern region through the central region before reaching the south? Or are we going to be just a spectator?

3 hours waiting time ....

Its a typical government clinic, with slow service & not so friendly staff etc etc .... After all, I am also from a government department (statutory body!!) that however, render excellent services!! My office waiting time at the counter is not more than 15 minutes! At the Oya Polyclinic today, the waiting time for a blood test was 3 hours, I feel like turning into Dracula and just suck my own blood out!!

I arrived at 8.05am and the queue number was 118 (mine!); so I patiently read the newspaper and looked at the time .. its 9.05am and my number blinked to go to the counter to submit my blood test form. At this point I was still 'happy'! I noticed that the area was still very very crowded! When I asked the clerk how long am I expected to wait further; she 'rudely' says there are a lot of people ahead of me! I told her I know that, that's why I asked the estimated waiting time! Well, I didn't get a satisfactory answer! Never mind, so I went back to waiting in the crowded waiting area with insufficient chairs - lots of people standing around! Okay, later few empty chairs but Sibu people loves to wait standing as near as possible to the counter or the door to the lab. So wait .. wait .. then it hit 10.10am, I heard a few grumblings that all the clinic staff had taken their tea break! So I went to the front to look, and sure enough the whole lab was EMPTY!!! I could not believe it!!
Now I wonder, where in the Federal & State G.O. or circular that allows civil servants to take breaks all together!! Fine!!! They all came back about 30 minutes later! This was also the issue discussed in my office recently, when officers take breaks longer than 15 minutes all together! Okay, I understand the need to take short breaks from task, but to take the break ALL TOGETHER, now that is hard to understand! In my heart - the word - government! I was called at 10.50am to have my blood taken and out of the door by 11.05am - exactly 3 hours after I arrived!

Is it that our expectation is so low from the government agencies/clinics? By the way, we even have foreign doctors who does not even speak Malay! Is it an acceptable waiting time - 3 hours? Importantly, what are we going to do about it? What am I going to do about it?

Sarakup Indu ....

Enda berasai, nuh maya berunding ke pengawa taun tu bala indu Sarakup, di Sibu. Kemari nuh berdering talipon sida sekretari Sarakup madah ke pasal aum besai Sarakup di Kuching kena 28.2.09. Udahnya ketering ke talipon netap ke aum bulan Sarakup, ngenentu ke kemaya Makai Malam Gawai Dayak, serta madah ke haribulan Borneo Cultural Festival (BCF). Apuuu belaboh ngawa baru lah tu!
