Ngagau ke diri ...

Beberapa bulan tu endang ngagau amat aku, segau-segau baum, bemain, serta berjako di merata endor. Kebuah iya? Laban ati ke rindu endal ngah begulai serta bersulu enggau pagan diri. Taja aku tu ukai orang ke udu bejako ;) tang meh rindu amat ngah mending ke bala bercerita lucu sida!

Pun Ogos tu kemari, kami sebuat nurun bemain bowling enggau bisi nuka 15 iti tem. Siti tem, 4 0rang sekaban. Aku laban ke ari kawasan Maludan (SIDS Sibu) lalu bekaling enggau bala indu ari opis aku empu ke mega nyadi kaban SIDS Sibu. Stedi kami, champion baru!! Auk aku tu nadai dianjung, bol aku tembu nuchi parit aja! :D

Tu bala ari kelas ngaga tangu; setiap hari enam aba opis SIDS Sib. Aku tu nyengguk orang aja, mata (ke lebih agi pengelandik kerja jari) nadai dianjung! Rindu meda sida ketugau ngaga tangu. Ke ngasoh kelas tu rami, sida kaban tu; sambil jari berkerja, mulut bercerita jenaka! Tang meda aku sekeda mayoh agi ke ketawa ari berkerja! Semina tangu-tangu tu tembu sebedau Krismas tu ila!!


Ujung minggu Julai tu kemari, bisi 70 orang bala kami nurun nemuai ngagai Rh. Imba, Sg. Passin. Naka meh penjauh menoa, naka meh pemerinsa nadai ai paip! Rumah panjai sida endang chukup manah serta tegap; tang nya meh nadai ai paip & elektrik! Empai datai pemansang ke baka nya, taja menoa bukai udah chukup mansang.

Penatai kami disambut enggau chukup basa. Manok dibiyau, babi digayang! :)

Bala ke diluan moto enda tentu ragak, nyangka laban aku ke bisi kini bala malu bercerita jenaka. Sida ke dibelakang express ukai enda chukup ragak! Dinga kami di luan cerita sida!!

Nemuai & ngirup tengahari enggau 2 orang kaban ke enda berpengerai ianya Pn. Monica Giri & Pn. Juliana (Indai Daniel). Rindu ka betemu baka tu ambl erandau enggau pagan diri.

Pemansang kitai Indu Iban ...

Mayoh pengawa ke dikerja bulan Mac tu kemari, lalu semua berkaul enggau kitai indu Dayak/Iban. Pemansang kitai endang patut diperati ka lalu di atur manah agi ngambi kitai ulih berdiri sama tinggi. Pelajar & pangkat nya semina dua iti ari pemansang ke dipupuk kitai. Pemansang alam pengawa dagang, pemansang ngenuai ke diri serta mayoh agi pekara mega sekeda pekara ke deka dipupuk kitai. Kena pun bulan Mac tu kemari, aku enggau Uchi & Sinah bisi dikagau betemu enggau Perdana Menteri Malaysia alam siti progrim 1Karisma di Stadium Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur. Rindu ngah enggau - taja aku endang enda rindu enggau orang besekut, bebaris ... lama! Terima kasih ngagai Biro Wanita Sarawak ke udah bisi SIDS, Sibu peluang ngari ke kitai indu Iban ke pengawa tu.



Maya nya kemari, kami tiga ianya siti gerup bala indu eknik Sarawak alam progrim nya. Bala sida indu Bidayuh (DBNA), indu Kayan & Orang Ulu mega bisi enggau. Tang ke sayau amat, pengari ari indu eknik ke diasoh sida bejako ngari ke kami ianya ari gerempong Women for Women, Margaret Bedus; lalu taja iya kaban SIDS serta indu Iban; buah jako iya ngari ke gerempong iya lalu enda nyengkaum bala bukai. Ringat amat bala sida ke bukai ninga buah jako iya!

Maya nya mega bisi betemu enggau YB Deputy Speaker Dewan/Senator Doris Brodie, siko indu kitai Iban ke udah mujur bendar alam pengawa iya.

Kena pun Mac tu kemari, SIDS Sibu mega bisi ngatur siti seminar serimbai enggau Aum Taun; lalu temuai kami maya nya iany Profesor Madya Dr. Madeline Berma siko ari indu kitai Iban ke landik bendar. Iya profesor di Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia serta mega megai pengawa pemansang orang indu di universiti nya. Terima kasih ngagai iya ke ulih limpang bejako setengah hari tentang pemansang indu Iban.

Tuai-Tuai SIDS Sibu 2012-2013

Lemai nya, SIDS Sibu mega ngatur bepilih ke tuai-tuai. Terima kasih ke pengarap ke udah diberi kita ke aku agi megai serta nambah ke pengawa pemansang kitai indu Iban kelebih agi di Sibu. Tuju pengawa ke taun tu mega ianya:-
1. Ngerembai ke Sarakup ke bala indu Iban di menoa pesisir,
2. Ngemansang ke bala Indu alam pengawa dagang, pelajar, & ngenuai (leadership),
3. Ngenan ke main asal - taun tu, kajat, kerja jari (pua kumbu & tangu), serta
4. Ngansak bala indu Iban ke biak/bepelajar enggau masuk Sarakup.


Ujung bulan Mac tu kemari, sekula Methodist Secondary/Primary bisi ngatur gempuru besai ngingat ke sekula dua iti tu udah 110 taun. Maya nya, gaga ati ketegal sempat betemu enggau bala kaban ke lama! Asai ke baru kemari ke tetundi berandau duduk aba parit mit sekula; diatu nuh udah berumur serta uban pun mayoh sekeda! Ke taun tu semina ulih betemu enggau lebih kurang 10 orang aja. Arap ke taun ke dudi ila, ulih betemu mayoh agi!

Tu iya gambar kami sebuat!! Peda sida ke indu ke mayoh agi ka betemu. Nie sida ke laki?!

Lubuk Lebak! Lubuk Lebak! Tu kedua kali aku ngagai menoa atas bukit tu di Sarikei. Manah amat menoa, lalu enti dimaju ke ulih baka English countryside diatas bukit! Bala Indu Methodist ditu mayoh tang semina 18 orang aja ke enggau nyadi kaban. Puji Tuhan kali kedua aku kitu; mayoh agi bala datai ninga ke ajar/aum Pelajar Sehari. Penyaum & Pengarap kitai mesti bisi enti kitai ka ngerja pengawa. Lalu aku meda, bala indu ditu kelalu dikokong siko indu kitai; nyangka enggai belaya meh nya - munyi ko siko ari indu ke dia!

Pengawa Ujung MInggu ...

Ujung minggu tu kemari kena 13/8/2011, aku enggau mayoh bala Sarakup di serata menoa bisi enggau nguluk pengerami Makai UlangTaun ke 20 SIDS Miri di Mega Hotel, Miri! Terima kasih ke 'Temenggong' Jenny Jeli enggau 'Pemanca' Mary Bajang ke udah nesau bala kin.


Over the weekend, I was in Miri to be with good friends for the SIDS Miri 20th Anniversary Dinner which was held on the 13 August! It was a weekend filled with fellowship, friendship and good food!! Thank you all for the wonderful time!

Wherever we go, we must go to the shops, and I did manage to get myself a very very cheap branded shoe (it was on sale), a blouse, and slack; whilst for the lil one it was a beautiful headband and a party bag/pouch. So everyone is happy.


Penatai aku di Miri, lalu diambi Tina terus ke Parkson - mar ngah orang ke enda kala ke negeri lalu ngiga kedai ka bebeli ke utai. Nama utai ulih aku - kasut ari rega RM90 nyadi RM30, nama agi, saiz betul lalu dibeli! Udah nya anak bebendal ngah mesan meli ke iya utai. Sebarang utai, nuh sinu ngah ninga iya. Berpeling baru ngah kami duai Tina, aku enda sigi rindu-lalu meli siti beg parti enggau sekang buk beribon. Sori nadai gambar!

Nama betemu sigi mesti makai, lalu ngetu aba Cook & Cili kami sebuat!

Terima kasih Apai Jill ke enggau kami bersulu pagi nya, serta gaga ati betemu/berkelala enggau Margaret Kunchi (enggau anak iya udah nya). Pengudah nya, lalu betemu ngah enggau Pemanca lalu ngirup ngah! Sehari-hari nya enda aus agi aku! Terima kasih ke pemanah semua kita. Tang Temenggong ka di 'ukum' aku laban enda 'fulfill' semaya! hahaha

Bowling Adventure ....

Hari enam tu kemari, pengawa kami duai menyanak ianya enggau bala Sarakup bermain Bowling! SIDS Sibu bisi ngatur pekit bowling antara kawasan; ketegal enda chukup tubuh deka enggau ... tudah Val di-regista aku. Rindu amat kami sebuat. Tem ari kawasan Maludan, bisi 8 iko kami - bala opis aku ditarit bai aku enggau. Tu bala kaban baru, bala biak bala graduan gawa sama se opis. Nie enda chapo kami sebuat!

Aku se-tem enggau ala geng ibu-ibu Tenggau, Cathe & Endu Dely; Val se-tem engau Lynda (endang pandai bermain) serta Elizabeth & Mundun (boleh tahan seduai, pengudah nuchi parit dua tiga kali! haha). Tem aku, legis amat parit kami sebuat dituchi kami duai Cathe; iya nuh pandai sepandai penyuah kali ngayun ke bol! Aku mayoh agi bol di-ayun, nuh pedis agi ngah punggung enggau jari! Nie ke di-anjung mewakil Sarawak (munyi ko staf aku siko alam FB!! hahaha)

On Saturday, Val and I joined the Sarakup ladies ffor a Bowling Competition. The morning was Fun & Hilarious!! Just love the antics of the ladies!! haha Some were 1st timers and others have played a couple of times. My daughter and I were in two separate teams (arranged such) so; and we both had lots of fun!

Our teams won the 1st & 2nd placing .. hooray!!!! My daughter's team won 1st place whilst my team won 2nd placing! Hope that we get to do this every year! It was great fun and good networking with the members and families! Next time, maybe should get the spouses/partners to participate also!


Tem ari Maludan menang penuduk no 1 & 2 ... hooray!!! Tem Val, Elizabeth, Mundun & Lynda bulih no 1; lalu tem aku, Cathe, Tengga & Dely bulih penuduk no 2! Prais kami sebuat; container tupperware!! Laban ke mayoh bala ibu ... gaga nerima prais ke baka nya! Diatas, gambar kami enggau sida prais!

Penghulu Indu Iban ...

Udah datai maya iya kitai indu Iban dikelala ketegal pengawa, pemansang & kaul kitai enggau bala rakyat & perintah. Peluang patut diberi ngagai bala indu kitai ke ulih dilantik nyadi pemesai kitai raban bansa. Besampi ke tu ulih diatur Perintah enggau naka pengelekas!

Kelala pengering bala raban indu, kering ke penglemi; serta sokong meh pagan diri ngambi kitai indu mansang. Ingat meh ke leka jako: Deh mansang, Aku mansang!

Sapa fikir kita indu kitai Iban di Sibu ke patut dilantik nyadi Penghulu? Aku mega udah nganjung siko nama kitai Indu Iban di Sibu ke bala pemesai ke patut megai pengawa tu. Anang saru auk, ukai aku. Enti aku nganjung nama aku empu, dianjung aku nyadi State Secretary :D!!! hahaha!!




Iban woman as Penghulu (community leader) is a long awaited appointment. The time is right and there's so many Iban women who have contributed to community and deserved to be recognized and take up a more active role in decsion making & policy matters of the State/Nation!



Pray that this recognition will come soon for an Iban woman Penghulu! :)

Berita bulan April tu kemari ...

Nyampau meh pemayoh pengawa bulan April tu kemari. Kadang-kadang enda chukup jam endor ngereja pengawa; nyengkaum pengawa opis, Sarakup Indu Dayak, Bala Indu Methodist, enggau pengawa bukai. Taja sibuk, tang rindu mega ati ngerja iya ketegal pemansang kitai indu Dayak alam pelbagai segi.

Cerita tu ditusi nadai ripih, lebih nitih ke gambar-gambar ke dibantai. Aku tu selalu enda sempat ngambi gambar ketegal ke enda lanchat mansut ke kamera, nya alai nadai tentu mayoh gambar.

It took me a while, but finally I am able to put out my acitivities in April which are varied and many! I had a lot of fun attending/speaking at some of these functions from the NGO that I am involved with.

Pengujung bulan Mac (nya neh, bisi cerita bulan Mac!) tu kemari, Sarakup Indu Dayak Sarawak bisi ngator Aum Besai Sekali Alam DuaTaun di Kuching. Lalu maya nya suba, bala indu Iban di Kuching mega bisi nubuh ke siti gerempong Iban Women Charitable Trust Fund (IWCT) kena nulong bala kitai. Visi, Misi & Objektif sida udah ditulis; lalu diatu nganti progrim sida meh. Maya malam nya, pengudah Aum Besai; IWCT & SIDS bisi ngatur progrim makai malam. Dia setiap pampang SIDS bisi diberi geran nitih ke peng-aktif. Aku gaga ati, madah ke kami di Sibu diberi RM25,000 lalu dagih ke aku, pampang ke-2 paling aktif! Terima kasih IWCT! Pengandal aku & bala di Sibu ke SIDS & IWCT tu endang besai, lalu arap meh ke SIDS/IWCT tu ulih nyadi tunjak ngatur serta ngemansang ke semua kitai indu Iban!

The SIDS held its TGM in Kuching, and it was attended by all its branches; and its business as usual. We need to make a greater impact within the community, and hope that the leadership will do it. The time for action is now, in view that we have talked or 'dream' of it for decades.

I took the opportunity also to visit the Kuching South Sejiwa Senada program, and its wonderful and enjoyed the almost 3 hours visit to ALL the stalls!! Why? Well, there was a contest to win a car and participants had to visit certain stalls to get their 'stamps' to get an opportunity for the draw. I am still driving my 'old' car!! Yeah, I didn't win!! Next time! (I am also hoping to win the JACKPOT ... Mary & Jenny are relying on it!! hahaha!! so that the three of us could go to London! haha! ) Met up with some friends/colleagues also while there; water people always stick together. It was a nice fellowship with others.

Maya ke di Kuching hari nya, aku sempat nemuai ngagai progrim Sejiwa Senada ke diatur Kuching South. Rindu diri ngah meda stal sida. Tang meh nuh berpeluh-peluh aku ke berjalai din! Maya nya mayoh endal kaban ke enggau betemu ari opis-opis perintah. Nuh rindu berandau, ukai meda utai!

SIDS Sibu mega ngatur AGM, lalu bala komiti baru dipilih ngenuai ke Sarakup setaun agi. Alam komiti sekali tu, semina bisi siko kaban komiti baru, ianya Endu Michelle Anthony. Tahniah. Kami endang ngasak bala ke biak2 & ke bepelajar sama-sama enggau, ngambi bisi meri penemu & cara baru. Sekali tu bisi lebih kurang 250 bala kaban bisi enggau. Taun baru, target sekurang-kurangnya 1000 bala kaban enggau! Arap ke ulih!!

Your truly was re-elected to lead SIDS Sibu for another term. Thank you ladies for your confidence in my leadership, and hope that we would be able to move ahead this year. We have been trying to get our members & Sarakup to be seen and heard over the last 10 years and it seems that we're bearing fruits now! Our request for consideration for certain community positions are being seriously considered, and we eagerly awaits for good news!

One of my many books for this year is this book on Sarawak Women (courtesy of State Government & borrowed from my office resource center) and noticed that we lack outstanding Dayak women or maybe more accurately 'acknowledged' Dayak women. Its time that Dayak women make an impact in the development of Sarawak/Malaysia. Leadership is still 'heredity' whether qualified or not; and I strongly believe that each of us should make an impact in various fields. At this juncture, I would like to note that there are so many Dayak women who have served the community in various fields and many more who are 'shy' to be in the public domain. I thought of listing but decided against it; in case, I get many calls from them! haha!

Tu siti ari pemayoh bup ke dibaca aku, ianya pasal Tuai-tuai Indu kitai di Sarawak; lalu dipeda aku tak nadai mayoh kitai indu Iban. Arap ke sida ke dudi/biak mansut ke diri ngambi dikelala lalu ngemansang ke bansa kitai. Beguna amat kitai ke bala indu ke bepenemu ngiring raban bansa.

Tu gereja menoa aku; gereja ke endor aku sembahyang ke digaga alam taun 1963; lalu pengandal bala ianya gereja baru ulih di-diri ke enda lama agi.

This is my local (rural) church which was built in 1963 and the committee is planning to built a new church, when the fund is sufficient.

This weekend, I had a wonderful experience of attending the 2nd Methodist Prayer Convention in my little town! James Shia (Taiwan), Graham Power (S. Africa) & Dion Forster (S. Africa) were here!!! Unfortunately, I was too far to get a picture with them -and guess didn't try hard enough!! :) All were great speakers!!

BTW (picture below) the one of the left is one of the pastor translating into Mandarin for the convention! Yes, it was held in 3 languages - English, Mandarin & Tamil!!

Ujung minggu tu tadi, aku enggau bala Methodist di Malaysia bisi Begempuru Besampi Besai; lalu sida bisi ngagau ke 2 iko orang bejako ianya Dr. James Shia & Graham Power, lalu dibai mega Dion Forster. Rindu amat ninga sida tu bejako pasal Kuasa Sampi. Penemu ke diulih mayoh serta aku enda nemu ngerintai, nya alai naka tu aja meh utai ke ditusi aku!


Kami duai menyanak bergambar enggau tepak menantu enggau tepak uchu aku ... nuh asai tuai tu, udah bisi uchu!!! hahaha Kami tu ke rumah panjai minggu orang ke benong hebat berkempen ketegal progrim Bala Indu Methodist, lalu maya nya mega bisi progrim Jiwa Murni Tentera. Nya iya ko aku, sida di ruai berubat, bala ke dibilik sembahyang ... awak ke sida ninga ko aku!

In mid April, during the campaigning period, we were at the longhouse for the Methodist Women program; and the Jiwa Murni Tentera activities were also held. This program is where the army sent out their medical team of dentist, general practitioner, and pharmacist to the longhouse to give medical care for all. It was a great program and I hope that in future, they should include Health talks/advices.

My daughter and I had a dinner date with the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia last night; of course, in attendance were also about 1000 other guests! The dinner was aptly called the 1Malaysia Dinner with the Deputy Prime Minister. It was a memorable & wonderful experience for my daughter to meet the person mentioned in history book, face to face! She has been asking to go with me to meet the Prime Minister & the Deputy Prime Minister and finally, she got her wish (half of it, anyway). I guess her prayer was answered last night, when one of my NGO lady pulled out at the last minute and it was quicker for me to ask my daughter (she can get ready in 5minutes) then to ask others who takes half a day to get ready!

Pray that this meeting with the DPM will inspire my daughter to excel in whatever she do, and the heart to serve our people & God!

Oktober ...

Bulan Oktober, aku enda gagau amat, tang enti berati ke iya ... sama aja. bulan bukai pen ngeyibok tu!

Bulan tu mayoh amat pengawa ke dikerja aku belaboh ari aku ke berjako motivasi ngagai 3000 pelajar universiti di Semenanjung aba UPM Serdang. Tu meh keterubah iya aku bejako enggau

bala orang ubas ke ngemayoh nya; lalu lama aku berunding ke nama utai ke patut dibai aku. Nama pekara ke ka didinga sida. Pengujung iya, aku mai siti topik ke betajuk - 'Empowerment'. Enti nitih ke pemesai tempub jari, topik tu disambt sida enggau manah. Pia mega, ketegal dipeda aku lebih kurang 70% bala anaembiak ianya bala indu, lalu diselit ke aku tentang 'women leadership'.

October is a hectic month for me and I have another week of it; then its relaxation time (although not until mid next month!). It started with the speakin engagement with about 3000 university students at the Putra University campus on the 12.10.10. It was challenging time, as I rarely talked to students of that age group and was not quite sure of what are their expectations. However, after much praying I decided to talk about Empowerment & Women Leadership. I chose the later, after noticing that about 70% of the students at the function are young ladies! The talk went well, and I believe the topic was well received by them.

Pengambis 'conference' aku hari lima kemari, aku pen nuh berumban-rumban ngagai The Outback aba Bangsar Village laban udah berjanji makai malam enggau sebilik aku. Kami sekaligus ngintu hari pengada anak tuai, anak no. 3 serta menyadi tuai aku! Semua bujang sigat ke ngintu pengada alam bulan Oktober. Selama Hari Pengada, awak ke Allah Taala selalu ngibun & merkat sida!

Later in the week, while in KL; I took my young handsome men to The Outback, Bangsar Village to celebrate their birthdays ... 19 & 21! It was a wonderful time of sharing, the food was delicious, and the family time just precious! Don't mind the lil cake, as it was his 2nd cake (1st cake was just as BIG from elder aunty; all cakes were from elder aunty!); and his 2nd celebration. Happy Birthday my darlings! May the Lord guide & protect you always!

Restoran KL Tower ... wow! Chukup Manah menoa dipeda, umbas iya penyamai pemakai! Aku minggu ke dulu agi, sempat kia ketegal mai kaban ribai se-pengawa enggau aku makai malam. Tu kira ke malas penelap iya engau aku maya aku di London pun taun tu kemari. Bayar makai mar mimit, tang dibangs engga pemayoh macam pemakai ari Jepun, Ribai & Malaysia - kira ke chukup manah meh.

I round up the week with a dinner 'date' with a work colleague/friend from UK, who was in KL for the Water Loss Asia 2010 conference, and it was a great night of fellowship! He was so kind to me when I was in London earlier this year, and I thought I should return the flavour in my home country! Took him to the KL Tower and it was a really great evening ... beautiful scenery, delicous food, and great companionship. We were able to enjoy the view of KL as we enjoyed dinner, get to sample various food ie Japanese/Chinese/Malay/Western all in the turning tower!

Hari lima tu kemari, aku pen berumban-rumban enggau bala Sarakup ngulu Randau Pengerai aba Polyclinic Lanang. Bala kami dibai ninga randau pengerai pasal penyakit kitai orang indu, udah nya bisi uji pengerai. Kira-kira 150 orang bala Sarakup bisi enggau ngulu randau tu.

Last Friday, about 150 Sarakup ladies atended the Health Talk jointly organized with the Polyclinic Lanang. The talk was on general women's health and later health screening was conducted. All the screening was free; and so it was a great opportunity for members and the service that afternoon was also solely for us.

Next week, the annual conference of the Methodist Women of the Iban Conference will start; and this is what I have been praying about - for direction. I believe that it have been 'answered' but we're wait and see by the end of next week. We're leave it to the Lord!

Borneo Cultural Festival ...

Beauty in Diversity ... that's the theme for this year's Borneo Cultural Festival! The theme is so appropriate for Sarawak with its multi-ethnic environment.

Gawai News ...

Gawai ...

Only a couple more days ~ 2 days ~ to Gawai Festival. Gawai is celebrated each year on the 1 - 2 June (officially) to mark the end of the Harvest season for the Dayaks of Borneo! However, for those of us in the longhouse; it begins on the 31 May!! We got to catch up with the merry making time! Its the time of the year when most of the longhouse folks will be back, therefore lots of catch-up time!! The preparation, however, had started months ago!

Mom had make her famous Tuak (Rice Wine) in March as she wanted her Tuak to be filtered and clear 'yellowish' liquid. As in making of wine, likewise the rice wine will taste better the longer it is kept, (better the taste/texture/strength).

Val and I had been caught up with the preparation of the Gawai Dayak Dinner celebration on the 22 May at the Civic Center. SIDS Sibu (thus involving me directly) was the lead organizor and Val volunteered as performers for the group dances ie Kajat Iban & Bidayuh and also took part in the welcoming party! The celebration went very well, if I may say so, and really appreciated all the encouragement & kind words from friends who commented on the event. Birthday ...

Last week, I celebrated my birthday, too ( :D won't tell how young I am!) with lunch with 3 friends (two of whom also had the same birthdate/birthmonth) and then dinner with a single swiss roll slice topped with a teddy bear from Val. ( ;) Does the fact that the single swiss roll tells you how young I am? lol candles couldn't fit into the slice of cake! ). Anyway, Val have been trying to get me to the mall since she got her 'hard earned' token from the dances she did during the Gawai celebration ~ RM112.35 ~ and I only managed to take her there yesterday evening. What a wonderful surprise!!!!! She wanted to go to the mall, because she wanted to buy me a shoe (she got a sandal for herself, too!) that I have been admiring for months at that store!!! Thank you darlin', Mommy will treasure the shoe always! :)
