Belelang enda lama ....

Minggu nyin kemari aku sempat ke London seminggu ketegal kerja. Sambil kerja, aku mega sempat bejalai nemuai ngagai sekeda endor di luar kota London; laban progrim digaga betemu enggau bala diluar kota.

Aku endang rindu endal meda menoa diluar kota London, laban setiap endor endang bisi sejarah magang. Munyi ko kawan aku, iya diau aba rumah ke berumur lebih 100 taun; tang iya enda tentu berati ke pemanah tauka sejarah. Dibai sida iya aku ke Oxford serta di pelilir Leighton Buzzard - nya alai sambil berandau ke pengawa, sempat mega raun meda menoa.

Penemuai aku sekali tu endang meda countryside England, makai pemakai sida 'pudding', serta nyium sida angin luar kota!

Siti ari countryside ke dilawa aku semak Leighton Buzzard, lebih kurang 40min kena keretapi ari London. Munyi ko kawan aku nya, penyukup jauh ari kota London ngambi diau ke luar bandar, tan penyukup semak ari kota London ngambi ulih dilawa setiap hari enti bisi pengawa!

This trip I had a wonderful time visiting the English countryside with friends (Stephen for taking the time to be with me in Oxford and Jo for the other sites!); it was partly work (with Jo) and just purely for pleasure with Stephen. Had a wonderful time exploring the sites! Lest you think it was a pleasure trip; no such luck .... I was in London for a conference and was given an opportunity to once again present a paper. A very well received paper and I was honored that most of them enjoyed it and were vocal enough to tell me so - later! Of course, I planned it such that the work part was mixed with pleasure. I had a meeting with Jo Parker, a specialist in water management, and instead of meeting in London, we met in the countryside!

Bandar Oxford University tu chukup manah endal peda aku. Aku endang lama udah ka nyenguk kitu, nie nemu bala anak belajar kitu kini ila; ngambi udah ngah ngelala menoa mimit. Sehari suntuk aku enggau kaban belajai ditu. Kaki ukai main enda pedis pengelama bejalai.

Oxford University which in itself is full of history and being there, I feel so 'learned'! What a priviledge to study in such a place and hope one day I will get to do that or my daughter will?

Siti ari endor kolej mit di Ashridge ke dilawa. Chukup manah serta 'posh' endor tu serta 'formal' endal. Endor tu enda dibuka ke orang mayoh; tang ketegal kaban aku nya nyadi 'kaban' endor tu; ulih lah tama meda pemanah endor. Utai irup & pemakai disedia ke 'kaban' lalu ulih mega releks. Pun kayu, bunga etc semua chukup manah magang!

Aku ngambi gambar apai tuai tu nuchi cermin tingkat 3 enggau tali ke chukup panjai. Enti dimenoa nuh bejelakit bala kitai aba jendela. Kena iya penyambung, iya nuchi pen baka ke senang endal.

Bala kami ke indu ke enggau ragak sepiak. Ke sepiak kanan nya, kitai se-menoa ke jadi enggau sida din ie laki iya enggau kami. Lalu laki iya pengudah betemu eggau aku, lalu nyebut bini iya mesti betemu enggau aku laban semenoa!

A wonderful couple, and I spend the next evening with them at China town for dinner - Thank You for fulfiling a craving!!! After days of not eating rice, I was 'desperate' for rice!! I note here that I enjoyed western food but after days, rice rice rice, please!

Hop Hop ... Here's Rabbit!

Besampi ke berkat & tuah datai berlimpah maya taun arnab tu. Ukai semina menyadi kitai ke bangsa Cina ngintu, kitai ke bukai tu ngah lebih agi ngintu! Nuh lelah diri ngabang/nemuai ngagai sida. Enti kelia, ngabang ngagai sida dihidang ke kuih & ai aja; diatu semua ngenah ke kari manok, daging masak hitam, satay, aba sekeda rumah tunu janik, ikan, serta buah-buah. Kami sebilik mega ngintu secara mit aja; laban ke bala menyadi aku bisi pulai.

Pray that the year of the Rabbit will bring lots of blessings to all. This year was a little bit special for us, as we also celebrated in a small scale. We did not have open house, but relatives that drop by were equally surprised by our simple goodies! Honestly, the goodies were also for us; we enjoyed it more!

This year we had double eve dinners - one at my sis-in-law's sister's place with her wonderful family and at my uncle's place. The former was more due to the fact that family were in from KL, so was honored with the eve's dinner, otherwise, we usually have 1st day dinner at her place! This year, my cousin had a grander eve's dinner with the family from both sides. It was great to connect with the little nieces and nephews, who coincidently are no longer little - all taller than me!!! It was great fellowship. Thank you Lord for the Blessings!

On the eve, Karl happily joined me in the office for a couple of hours! He was keeping me company as the executive wing was getting very very lonely - it was only my secretary & I manning the office. Karl graciously agreed to join me and he keep us entertained with his many questions and took him on the tour of the office, too. So here he is at the lobby's Chinese New Year decoration.

Anak mit endang rindu ngabang laban ke ka ngulih ke angpow. Taja pemeri nya ngelai ke aja, bala anak rindu endal. Nge Karl rindu meda pemayoh iti, ukai penyampau ulih. Bedau pulai ari rumah ke endor ngabang, nuh udah ka dibuka iya. Bendal nagang iya muka! Anak aku suba pia meh. Taja utai mar, tang enti dipeda ari pemeri; manah diri - nadai kurang ari RM5.00!

Most children look forward to receiving the red packet ie angpow and Karl was no exception. He received quite a few packets, and he's MORE happy about receiving 5 pieces of RM1.00 bill than a piece of RM5.00 or RM10.00 bill! So precious!

Nya mimit aja di enak ke orang; iya ke chocolate nya ditembu ke kami duai menyanak aja! hahaha Laban ke aba rumah bala ke semak, enda malu nembu ke iya! Udah nya minta baru!!

In the early years, only cakes, cookies & drinks are served; nowadays, EVERYONE is serving curry chicken, beef, satay, and the cakes, cookies & drinks. So after a couple of houses, you're just 'tired' of the food. Even the cakes are almost the same!

We visited my sis-in-law's sister's place and enjoyed duck & bbq meat - yummies and after that, I was worried when all of us had to share the 2 seater sofa! hmmm It was a wonderful time of sharing.

I was not quick with my camera this holiday season, for some reasons ;) I was talking and socializing more and only remembered about taking pictures once I am in the car on the drive out! So there's no pictures with all my friends/relatives - unfortunately!

Amidst all the visiting, I had to perform official duty also; which I did not delegate to my officers as I was curious about seeing & meeting the new wife of the Chief Minister! I also had several opportunities to meet his late wife (may she rest in peace) and was curious to see how this one measure up? I was at the end of the line and had a opportunity to exchange a few words. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to get a picture with her! Next time!

Aku diujung baris tu, enda tentu mayoh bala ke airport laban semua nganti di rumah ko, laban pejalai iya ngabang. Amat bajik, ngeninggi kitai, nyangka laban iya ke orang baru, ditanya nyaut lalu bejako mimit nga iya. Nyangka aku aja kini ke nanya iya; laban kami ke indu maya nya semina 5 iko (nyengkaum bini menteri siko & ipar CM).

I was at the end of the receiving line and did manage to exchange a few words with her, which to me is a plus for her, in my book!

Kerja sambil cuti di Kota Kinabalu ...

Minggu tu tadi, kami duai menyanak enggau apai & indai ... cuti-cuti 4 hari ke Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Ngambi peluang tu laban cuti sekula serta aku mega bisi pengawa mimit aba din mega. Bandar tu endang manah endal, sigi rindu aku raun semina enda sempat ke pulau-pulau aja.

Batang pejalai aku ke kerja ianya meda progrim NRW sida di JBA Sabah; sida diberi perintah besai RM1billion nurun ke NRW sida ari 71% ngagai ke diatu lebih kurang 40%! Aku tu nuh jeles meda pemayoh geran ke diberi. Nama meh kitai enda bulih!? Aku enggau tem aku kusil-kusil ngena duit RM1juta ngadu ke NRW, ke diatu 29%.

Partly, the Sabah visit was to learn from them how they handle their NRW program; however, the diference is great in terms of financial. But, we just have to do the best we could with the limited funds. Malaysia Boleh! The concept of how its done is standard and we're doing exactly that - with slower result due to the limited activities due to limited funds.

We holiday in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah for 4 days; took my parents along also for the trip. It was a great 4 days relaxation for them enjoying the hotel facilities & visiting the wonderful sights. The city has really developed since my last visit about a decade ago, with more malls & equally lots of 'illegals'. I wasn't able to differentiate whether they were the locals or illegals of Indonesia/ Philippine ... but there seems to be a big number. Squatters are almost everywhere by the riverside or on any government land.

Minggu di Singapura ...

Minggu tu kemari aku di Singapura ketegal pengawa, 6 hari - berentak endal! Gaga endal ati laban ke nuka pulai hari siti!

Maya tu tadi aku sempat betemu enggau dua iko kaban lama aku. Siko indu ke mula-mula nulong aku suba, maya aku datai di menoa tasik - tu nuh 10 taun aku enda betemu enggau iya. Taja menoa semak, tang meh jarang aba endor ke sama - selalu ngah bepansa di menoa orang tauka di langit, tang meh enda sempat betemu. Ngaga amat ke berandau semalam-malam sambil tua bejalai. Nuh pedis amat kaki aku dibai udu segau-segau. Siko agi kaban nuh lebih 30 taun enda kala betemu!! Penudi begulai, pengambi darjah 6 kelia; diatu nuh sama-sama tuai - baru betemu baru! Nadai ngelala gamal pagan diri; semadi ke bepeda aba 'facebook' ke ngelala ayas pagan diri. Rindu ngah berandau enggau iya betanya ke berita.

Kaban Universiti kelia!

Kaban baru/lama, bala orang ai magang ari menua ASEAN!!

Sempat ngah aku ngetu aba Universal Studio ke baru dibuka di Singapura - umbas iya pemanah, taja mayoh main sida empai beroperasi penuh. Aku kin malam hari laban ke diatur alam progrim - makai serta meda tayang bunyi & api ala Steven Spielberg. Cukup manah! Lalu sempat ngah betemu enggau bala sida karakter katoon!

Ketegal pengawa, sempat mega betemu jarak jauh (datai pegai) enggau Timbalan Perdana Menteri & Menteri Alam Sekitar Singapura, bala ari UN, serta mega Crown Prince of Orange - amat sigat anak raja tu! :) Laban ke tebelena meda iya, nuh enda ingat ngambi gambar maya iya semak.

Cuti - cuti ...

Ujung minggu empai lama, kami duai menyanak cuti-cuti ngagai pasar meowww! Enda lama din, tang meh chukup endor rindang aba hotel, makai-makai, serta raun-raun. Anak rindu amat iya aba hotel: nemu nya releks aja aba hotel, makai buffet aba coffee house, Seattle Coffee House, muzium, etc etc.

Tua iya sempat mega nyeguk ngagai sida Apple Donut, Ms Read (kedai fav aku tu!), serta ronda-ronda aba theSpring. Endor besai tang dipelaba ke aku, semina 10% kini orang ke amat bebeli ke barang. Selain ari nya, nyangka tak ke lari ari panas diluar!

Sebedau ngerindang diri, aku tu kerja sehari laban ke opis ngatur Strategic Planning Workshop di Kuching, lalu bisi 22 iko orang bala pegawai bisi enggau. Pegawai-pegawai semua ke atas nitih ke ripih organisasi. Workshop tu endang patut diatur lama udah, tang meh ketegal mayoh pengawa, enda kala nyadi. Sesi ke baka tu ke 4 kali udah diatur aku, tang sekali tu aku ngasoh bos & 3 iko agi staf prof & mgtm nyadi facilitator. Nya meh, pengujung iya; nuh bisi kerja rumah bala! Engku nama diatur, sigi sistematik serta siap; empai siap enda asoh aku pansut! Tu laban bos besai pen sama-sama ka ngetu; 'homework' aja diberi. So agi 2 bulan tu agi mayoh pengawa!

Last weekend, Val & I spent the weekend in Kuching ... it was a great R&R and bonding time for both of us! We had a great time exploring the Cat Muzium, touristy sights, shopping, and enjoying great food ... Apple Donut! Yeah, we're crazy about donuts, unfortunately, I am not alert to taking pictures (yet) so we don't have one of us munching away half a dozen of great delicious chocolate & nut flavoured donuts!!! yummmy Of course, another shared passion for mother and daughter - shopping; Val bought a couple of t-shirts, tights, WHILST I was being a great mommy - no shopping thus allowing my darling to get more for herself! She's really into fashion - didn't recall choosing my OWN outfit at her age. Used to just wear whatever my mom picked for me! Anyway, we had a great time! I would have bought an outfit from Ms Read if there was anything of interest; alas none that attracts me!

Oh, did I mention that partly the weekend was also WORK! :)

Ulih berkat Allah Taalah ke nyampau pengasih, aku bisi ampit diberi pinggat perkhidmatan awam alam taun 2008 tu suba; lalu kemari pinggat nya diberi alam siti upacara di Sibu. Siti tanda ke chukup bererti ketegal nya diberi kena ngelala pengawa/kerja di opis. Taja aku nemu, endang mayoh agi bala pegawai perintah ke kerja manah; tang enda semua ngah diberi ketegal opis/tuai opis nadai rekomen. Tang puji Tuhan, pala ke diatu chukup nelap pasal ngelala pengawa setiap pegawai iya; lalu iya igat ke kitai maya iya mega dikelala orang ke besai. Munyi ko siko kaban; semua pengawa endang bepun ari kerjasama!

Blessed to be included in the Sarawak Governor Award List 2008, and was called to receive IT on Wedenesday (28April). It was an award given to the Civil Service for Excellent work performance.

Aku sinu ke diri nadai orang enggau maya tu. Dulu suba, indai enggau aku maya di Kuching; sekali tu pen aku deka mai iya. Tang enda mukai-mukai, seduai iya apai nuh melancung ngenyit disambung seminggu - siko aku aja meh iya. Tudah anak aku nemu ngah sinu; nya iya 'volunteer' enda nurun sekul enggau aku. Ujung iya enda iboh aja ngah ko aku. Pemulai iya sekul, tudah anak lalu mai 'celebrate' ... aku mai deh mummy, tang deh mayar ... ko tudah, bakani ka ngelaban logik ke bakanya. Lalu di bai iya ngagai endor ke chelap ~ Secret Recipe.

Chelap Pemadu Chelap ...

Chukup chelap - asai iya aba aku - menoa ribai, taja suhu diantara 1 - 6 degree C maya aku din minggu nyin kemari. Ko bala, aku baru terlepas salji! Bedik endal aku, ko aku! :) Ya, ya, aku baru pulai ari London, seminggu aku din.

Pengawa kerja ngulu Global Water Leakage Summit 2010, lalu aku mega bisi ngenatai ke siti kertas kerja pasal pengawa Non Revenue Water (NRW) ari opis aku. Mujur amat serta nerima mayoh puji ketegal iya; puji Tuhan. Kira-kira 180 orang bisi ninga/enggau conference/summit nya; lalu ketebal agi ianya bala ari UK, Europe serta bisi mega ari Australia, Africa, USA, Canada, & Asia (ulih di itung sepiak jari). Tu siti conference ke chukup teratur serta padat dibanding enggau beberapa iti conference bertaraf antarabangsa; tang enda ngemanah tu - kertas kerja ke dibantai semua nyemetak serta padat, serta nguntung ke magang!

Makai malam begulai enggau bala pakar NRW ari Canada & UK. Ko jako dikagau makai (invited), tang meh nuh mayar ngah kediri! Lain endal ngah adat orang ribai tu! :D Taja pia, keran ngah iya ke ngagau ke aku ka mayar ungkup aku, tang meda orang nuh mantai ke duit, mantai ngah aku! Makai malam tu aba private club di Central London, chukup manah endal endor serta penuh kelas - rega pemakai pen setanding!

Maya aku di London, bisi ngah sempat raun-raun & meli utai ke mimit ngambi ke bisi digaga ke anak! Laban ke siko aja bejalai, enda tentu nyamai raun nadai kaling dibai berandau, nadai orang ngambi gambar. Nya alai gambar-gambar ke diambi aku tu mayoh agi ke endor2, mimit aja ke bisi aku. Kita ngah nemu, aku tu enda orang ke rindu begambar!! Ambis orang tisi jalai ditarit asoh ngambi gambar aku; sekeda terang, sekeda kerabul, sekeda enda ulih dikena meh nya!

Laban ke kediri aja, aku lalu nyanking bas tour Hop-on-hop-off; taja mayoh agi aku tu didalam bas ketegal seharinya kelalu chelap! Pejalai aku sekali tu sempat ngah niki meda art alam National Art Gallery & British Museum - lari ke chelap kini! ;)

British Museum tu kira-kira 10min ari hotel aku, nya alai, tumu kaban bejalai alam chelap serta ujan mesik-mesik.

Alam seminggu di London, tan diri ngah enda makai asi; taja hari aku pulai, kamu duai kawan aku makai pemakai cina - aku ngurut mee soup (ketegal kelalu chelap) serta makai char siew pau - nuh tetenguk! Kelimpah ari nya, aku dibai sida makai pemakai aba restoran Itali, Peranchis, & Inggeris.

My one (1) week stay in London was just wonderful, albeit the cold weather! The Global Water Leakage Summit 2010 was great with very systematic, useful & informative papers presented, and had an opportunity to network with more NRW experts from UK, Canada, US, and other parts of the world. A most fruitful summit!

I did manage to spend some time touring the usual sites, and managed to visit the National Art Gallery & the British Museum, and enjoyed those visits tremendously! Yes, I did go to the usual shops - Harrods (thanks SR for the wonderful gift), and the assortments of souvenir shops AND not forgetting Hard Rock Cafe'!

Puas aku berati ke bakani meh ngaga latarbelakang baru. Bisi nge 4 hari tu kami duai menyanak ngadu ke iya, lalu enda tentu betul! Kemari pengudah berandau enggau Endu Michelle, ati nuh betambah keran amat; nya alai, tumu pagi tu ... nya meh gamal latar belakang baru blog aku!

Rindu aku meda corak tu, lalu kala iya ke biru pen endang sigi kala ke dikerindu!

Finally, I managed & successfully changed the background of the blog! Val & I have been working on this for a couple of days and we just couldn't get it right! So after chatting with Endu Michelle last night, I was determined to get it done right!

Wahlaaaa, I got it this morning! Thank you Lord for the inspiration!

Tengahari hari lima tu kemari bala kelab rekreasi/sukan opis nemuai ngagai Pn. Kemasess, ngabas iya ke baru udah beranak. Tu endang siti ari program kelab (mmmm aku baru ingat, aku suba enda di-abas sida!! berutang hadiah siti nya, campur 'interest' 10 taun, besai agi hamper engku!!) ke semua member, nemu nya sakit/beranak etc. Kelab penyayang!

Aku tu udah ngelala Indai Mau maya iya ngawa di Sibu, ngaga bendar ati laban ke lama enda betemu. Utai ke terubah disebut - lama endal enda update blog ko aku. Nya Indau Mau madah ke diri bermain Facebook diatu. Tua iya lalu bekagau di Facebook.

Udahnya, Indai Mau lalu mai aku bekelala enggau 2 orang bujang sigat - Tuan Kunsil enggau mmmm Senayau Aku? asai ke munyi nya. Sorry wai enti salah, enda tentu terang tadi; lalu aku tu malu nanya baru!!!!

Clearing the site ....

Well, as I had said earlier, I had gone to the drawing board and had came up with the design of the Garden of Paradise. It took me a week to find all the materials/items that I wanted in the Garden. I went to this great shop called Home & Me - that have almost everything that I needed in terms of accessories. I got a mini fountain, a garden light, stones, etc.. and had great advise on what types of plants to put in.

My 2nd christmas tree ...

Its been hard work over the weekend supervising the digging, and more digging of my bidang tanah ... turning it into the Garden of Paradise.

.... its a start.

Incompetency...

Sometimes I wonder whether the people we hire are competent to do the job or not! At times, of course, we have no control over who is hired; we just take the person and trained them! Some people are trainable and would be great workers/officers, but there are others who are just hopeless! Maybe, we're the ones who are not good trainers?

So my request over the weekend was:-
1. Smooth the internal concrete walls of my room - do plastering.
2. Paint the room (yeah, color selected).
3. Get a lounge for the room.
4. Repair carpet.
5. Repaint the office door from pink/blue to just dark brown.

Okay - 5 requests, maybe a little bit hard to do in 1 weekend; so I say just do nombor 1 first! Then I go on to say that, when the contractor do the work, ensure that after they finished, that the room is clean. Sounds easy? What would a person with sound common sense do?
Well, he was needed to supervise only; there's a contractor to do the work, so how hard is that to do?! So just speak and its done. What do I see this morning at 7:55am in my office? Debris all over the floor and shelves. Debris in the walkway & secretary work space, outside, etc..

Thus, to avoid further actions (from me!!), I just walked off and took leave today! To cool down, maybe - I guess that's only leaving the mess for my secretary to handle. Yeah, but I got the officer in charge on line just now and gave him a 'great' morning message!

Incompetency or laziness? Ka nganu bendal, kasih ngah meda iya bangsa diri; ka enda nganu, kerja kelalu enda betul!

Kebun Bungai di Rumah ...

Kebun Bungai di rumah orang peda aku manaaaaah amat ... macam2 bungai lalu sekeda bisi ngah buah! Bisi dijual ke charity keda!!!!

Dipalik aku ngagai tudah tanah sebidang aku ke mit ... peda aku rumput aja! Baik ngah nya ko ati aku, enda repa! Nu terkenang ke tudah kayu pine aku ke siti ngelik2 pen udah 'mati'! Ya, ukai 'green thumb' agi engku tu; tak 'brown finger' munyi ko anak! Pedalah, kayu pine ulih mati.

Teteguk meda sida kebun bungai aba padang sida bala kaban; nemu nya di blog atau di rumah bala di Sibu. Aku tu minggu tu kemari nemuai ngagai kaban siko - apu dirara aku 'repa' padang iya! ;) Nya ko Val - 'Mummy, your just jealous coz aunty got nice flowers!!'; lalu ketawa aku! Gecak ke kaban nya ka meri aku pasu2 bungai iya lah nya; laban ke kelalu repa!! ;) Udahnya, ko aku ngah nganu kaban aku tu, enti kelalu repa, nadai endor engkak, rumah aku mayoh endor; biarlah aku nulong meri ai, ko aku! :D

Nya alai, tua menyanak seminggu tu besepakat ka nukar bidang tanah di mua & belakang rumah nyadi 'garden of paradise'!! 2 hari tu aku ngambi cuti, 'going to the drawing board' munyi ko orang - nyendia ke stail 'garden of paradise' tua iya. Siti ari aktiviti 'bonding' tua iya.

Legi tua iya ngepost ke gambar sebedau!!! Nganti tua iya pansut ari bilik ngambi iya!! hahaha!! WARNING - anang ngandal ke projek tu temu jampat! Andal ke mayoh EOT (extension of time!)!

HaiPhong, Vietnam ...

Tu pejalai aku ke 2 kali ke menoa tu ketegal kerja. Sekali tu, aku ke bandar siti ke 2.5 jam penyauh ari Hanoi, ngena krita. Pengasai aku, 'adventure' ukai semina meda menoa ke lain agi; asai ke di Sibu kira2 40 taun kelia ...

My second trip to Vietnam was just as wonderful as the 1st visit; however, this trip I get to visit another town/city - HaiPhong - which was about 2.5 hrs drive from Hanoi. Its was a beautiful drive from Hanoi, passing through all the small towns, paddy fields, etc. Reminded me of Sibu, maybe 40 years ago.

Tu gaya trafik sida ... bercelarut ... Traffic flow was a great mess & confusion ... to me!

Kumpulan bala indu orang ai ari Filipina & Malaysia main band musical klasik Vietnam .. boleh tahan ngah, ulih sida ke laki ngerekak diri!! Within 4 days of knowing each other the engineers of Philippine & Malaysia were able to form a 'rocking' band!! HOorah ladies!!

The Winning Team - as a team were did great in our NRW project & quiz and was awarded a certificate ... just extra weight!!! ;)
